What a Catch!

When my sister and I were teenagers, my father was always on the lookout for ways to bond with his awkward daughters. One summer he had the brilliant idea to teach us to fly fish. He must have imagined spending tranquil afternoons wading in a picturesque stream while discussing philosophy or architecture followed by fish fries over a campfire. His angling campaign started off well when he took Jan and I to see A River Runs Through It, a movie with Brad Pitt. Unfortunately it was all downhill from there with tangled fishing lines, empty hooks, and long drives out to fishing spots infested with mosquitoes.  When I saw this fly fishing fabric, I knew my sister would love it. It is a reminder of our short lived fly fishing days and a testament to out father's willingness to try anything.

  1. My son is an avid fly fisherman, even ties his own flies. He has never asked me to come along...may be all those tangled lines and bug complaints were the reason. Your father was brave indeed. Great memory pillow!
